Along with the bracelets, rings and necklaces, Laurianne designed signature locket pieces. Some of the lockets have been incorporated into one-of-a-kind beaded necklaces, created in-house by shop-mate Suzi Walters.
“Corazon pieces are made by a three generation family of jewelers,” says Laurianne. “In fact, most of the things I sell are made by people I know.”
That’s important to her, because - like the mega-giant corporation Starbucks - she practices “Fair Trade.” This means she is committed to purchasing products directly from the people who produce them.
The artisans are paid a fair global price directly, so there’s no “middle man.” In Laurianne's case, that means the artisans she works with are able to make a decent living for their families.
“I want people to understand what Fair Trade is,” she says. “Then they can enjoy these fabulous products brought directly from the artisan - knowing in a small way, their purchase is helping make the world a better place.”
