Founded in 2020, Good Earth Records was formerly located on Magazine Street in New Orleans. After two successful years of operating in the City, Good Earth Records made the move to The Bay in October of 2022. Located at 212 Main Street, around the back of the building, Good Earth has been proudly providing the Bay with high quality new and vintage vinyl records, tapes, CDs, stereos, turntables, band t-shirts, live plants and local art for two years! A few of the shop's featured local artists are Nick Mason, Immortal Oz, and Maggie Mae. Good Earth is proud to carry music from LOCAL musicians from Mississippi and Louisiana and the selection of regional records is always on point. Good Earth Records is THE place for music, art and Gulf Coast culture in Bay St. Louis.
For this Second Saturday, Good Earth's owner and House DJ, Doug Funnie will be spinning new and vintage records from 11-6 from the DJ booth behind the counter. Music will be playing on speakers outside as well. They will have complimentary cold beverages as well as fresh fruit available for everyone to enjoy. Good Earth will be holding a raffle, where everyone who makes a purchase will have a chance to win some Good Earth giveaways (3rd prize gets $15 in store credit and some stickers, 2nd gets a Good Earth Records T shirt and stickers, 1st prize gets a Good Earth tote bag filled with records) . Good Earth Records would like to highlight their three upcoming events at the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre, located at 398 Blaize Ave. in the Depot District - Good Earth Presents is hosting the first of many Comedy shows at the Little Theatre on Saturday August 24th with doors at 6:30pm. They are teaming up with Laugh Life Comedy from New Orleans to present an evening of laughs, jokes and bits featuring rising funny man, Matt Owens. Matt is a comedian, comedy show producer, actor, and radio and film producer based in New Orleans. A prominent fixture in the NOLA comedy scene since 2010, Matt has shared the stage with standup heavyweights Louis CK, Bill Burr, Mark Normand, Hannibal Burress, Theo Von, Dom Irrera, Rich Vos, Brian Posehn, Kykle Kinane and many more. Matt has successfully booked produced sold-out theater shows under the Stand Up NOLA brand, and is currently a show producer for Laugh Life Comedy and tour manager for Jim Gaffigan. Matt will be bringing a few of his funny friends with him to open up the show and the jokes will begin at 8pm. Good Earth's own DJ Doug Funnie will be the MC and will be playing funky music before the show, and in between comedians. Tickets are $20 and this is a 21+ event. Next, Good Earth has started a new local music series at the Little Theatre called 'Mississippi Sounds'. The first show of this new series is on Friday September 6th with doors at 6pm. This show is featuring BsL's own Americana Rock group Crow The Culprit along with the Rockin' Blues Soul band from the Bay - Assumed Risk plus DJ Doug Funnie, spinning vintage Gulf Coast records before and in between bands. DJ Doug Funnie will kick things off at 6, Assumed Risk goes on at 7, and Crow the Culprit takes the stage at 8:30. Tickets are $20, and this show is 18+. Last but certainly not least, Good Earth Records presents a very special show coming up on September 21st, titled Do The Rump! Blues Night with JD Simo and Luther Dickinson plus an opening set by Callie Miles. JD Simo is an extremely talented Blues guitar player from Chicago and has many notable accomplishments under his belt including working with Jack White and playing guitar on the new Elvis film. JD has teamed up with Mississippi's own Luther Dickinson, of the legendary NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS for this project and they are currently on tour in support of their new album, DO THE RUMP! Along with drummer Adam Abarashoff, this trio is going to put on an amazing Blues show at the Little Theatre! Callie Miles is a singer/songwriter from New Jersey. She began performing at the age of ten, when she accompanied Luther Dickinson on bass at the first of his “Seven Climates” concerts in Ocean Springs. Advance tickets are $40 and this is a 18+ event. Doors are at 6pm with Callie Miles opening the show at 7 and JD Simo & Luther Dickinson will take the stage at 8. This show is sure to sell out in advance so get your tickets now!
