Since 2012, Jane Evans has transformed her lifelong passion for art into a flourishing business, starting with her popular ceramic crosses. Her journey in the art world is deeply rooted in her upbringing as the daughter of an accomplished architect, from whom she inherited a keen eye for design and meticulous craftsmanship. Jane's transition from selling her creations to local shops to establishing her own store in 2019 is a testament to her dedication and love for art. Jane Evans Designs, offers an eclectic collection of silver and gold-leaf handcrafted ornaments. These range from local landmarks like LSU’s Tiger Stadium and the Bay St. Louis Bay Bridge to whimsical designs featuring crowns, crosses, bunnies, and even portraits of Frida Kahlo. GallerySOUPer Mudfest 2024The 16th Annual SOUPer Mudfest Second Saturday Artwalk, is being held on Saturday, March 9 from 2 to 5 pm, in Old Town Bay St. Louis. This event, one of the most popular events of the year in Old Town Bay St. Louis features the work of local potters and homemade soups provided by dozens of merchants. The event is a joint effort between the Old Town Merchants Association, Hancock County Tourism, and the local artist community. This event makes for an extra special afternoon and evening of shopping, eating, and strolling around downtown Bay St. Louis, with extended shopping hours, special deals and live music by local performers. The line to buy bowls starts at 2PM at the United Methodist Church, 162 Main St. Bowls sell for $25 each (with a small surcharge for credit/debit card purchases). A wristband will be given to all who purchase the bowls. Bowl-buyers are provided with a list of local merchants where they’ll be able to sample gourmet soups throughout the evening - for free! Just show your wristband. Proceeds benefit Hancock County Tourism, the Old Town Merchants Association and Ruth’s Roots Blessings Box, which operates under the motto, “Take what you need. Leave what you can.” The local arts community also receives a portion of the proceeds. This year’s offering includes an eclectic mix of over 700 soup bowls handcrafted by 13 artists from across Hancock County.
