100 Men Hall

303 Union St. Bay St. Louis, MS 39520
Built in 1922, 100 Men Hall is one of the rare physical sites still standing on the Mississippi Blues Trail, and is a testament to the rich birthing of American music that unfolded during a history of racial oppression. Located at 303 Union Street, this historic landmark has attracted many legendary musicians over the decades such as Ray Charles, James Brown, Etta James, Sam Cooke, BB King, Chuck Berry, James Booker, and countless other Black musicians.

This year, 2022, marks 100 Years of the 100 Men Hall and to celebrate the Hall has a variety of exciting events planned that you won’t want to miss!

On Sunday, May 22nd, the gold and platinum selling jazz group, Squirrel Nut Zippers, will be performing at 100 Men Hall from 4 to 7pm.

During the entire month of June, 100 Men Hall will also be hosting A Blues Chronicle. Rachel Dangermond, owner, stated that A Blues Chronicle is ”a marionette workshop for children that will culminate in a performance chronicling each decade of the 100 years of the 100 Men Hall”. The workshop will be led by the leader of Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jimbo Mathus, and local artist, Dale Pohl.

On Saturday, May 21st, you’ll want to stop by the Maker’s Table at Arts Alive as Jimbo Mathus and Dale Pohl will be providing a mini demonstration of the June 2022 marionette workshop.

100 Men Hall plans to continue the celebration of their centennial over four themed weekends that highlight four distinct eras: Ancestors (June 17-19, 2022), Chitlin Circuit (Fall 2022), Harlem Renaissance (Feb 2023), and Rise of the DJ/Disco (June 17-19, 2023).

This Second Saturday, April 9th, 100 Man Hall will have Ronald Reggae and The Evolution Band playing from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets for the show are available in advance on 100 Men Hall’s website for $15 or for $20 at the door. The Hall will also be featuring authentic Jamaican jerk and smoked BBQ for purchase provided by CB’s Jamaican Jerk.

To purchase tickets, reserve tables, or find out more about these fun-filled weekends and events at the 100 Men Hall, please visit their website at www.the100menhall.com.
