Bay Books

In the heart of Old Town, half a block up from the beach, you will find the quintessential small town book store, Bay Books.

In 2011, Jeremy Burke and his wife purchased the store with a vision to continue providing their community with a local, independent bookstore. Burke recalls, “Whenever we found out it was for sale, we knew we just had to go buy it because we didn’t want our community or county without an independent bookstore.”

Bay Books presents a real sense of community and personalization that you won’t find at large chain and online bookstores. One of Burke’s favorite parts about owning the shop is “being an asset to the community.” He works to have a relationship with the local schools, and makes sure to carry the books that the students need.

Burke strives to have something nobody else has with an expansive children’s section, local independent and self-published authors, and much much more!

With a variety of Christmas books and toys, along with a large selection of new and used books, holiday shoppers are destined to find the perfect gift at Bay Books! Should you have something particular in mind, they are happy to order anything you might want.

Burke’s customer service and dedication is incredible. Make sure to visit his quaint shop this holiday season and find your next great read!

This Second Saturday, Bay Books will be hosting a plethora of promotions including a book signing from 11:30am to 1:00pm, live music from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, and with any purchase over $100, customers will receive a $10 gift card!

Antique Maison

After opening in 2007, Antique Maison has become one of the largest antique shops in Hancock county and an important part of Old Town’s community. With a very spacious retail space and more than 30 vendors, there is a variety of collectibles and curiosities that makes Antique Maison a go-to for antique shoppers and visitors alike!

Ed and Sylvia Young opened Antique Maison after renovating the building that was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. The couple developed a mall that rented booths to vendors who had lost their own antique malls to Katrina. By providing their customers a plethora of merchandise from a multitude of dealers, it didn’t take long for the Antique Maison to become a success!

Be sure to set aside some extra time when visiting, as you will find, Antique Maison’s labyrinth of booths are filled with many special finds! Owner, Sylvia Young, stated that there is “something for everyone” at her shop and the friendly folks at Antique Maison are extremely knowledgeable and always ready to assist you in finding that special something, whether shopping for something small or large!

Antique Maison will be one of the featured Hot Spot businesses for Second Saturday on December 11, 2021. Be sure to stop by the one and only Antique Maison this Second Saturday as they will be hosting a variety of specials for their holiday shoppers! Select vendor booths will be offering discounts on their products for savvy shoppers looking for wonderful finds at special prices. Shoppers can also enjoy live music by Myal Soul, an authentic Jamaican Reggae Band, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm!
